I was talking to another MT today. First, I was letting her know I'd be leaving the company. Second, we came to the conclusion that in our lifetime, there would always be a need for MTs with our skills. That is a loaded consideration if you truly think about it.

Work, work, work
Don't ever take a day off. Forget what I said about vacations
If you take a day off, one of your best MTs has a crisis and has to take one too. If you take a day off, you have to work double the following day to even come close to finishing and yet, not finishing the work you left behind for a day. If you take a day off, oy vey!
Oh hell, take the vacation anyway. We have all earned them!
Vacations, they do rock
I am leaving Phoenix in two days to go back to Virginia and the normal day to day routine of my life at home. I so enjoy coming out here and doing some lazy lady things and touristy things and basketball things and swimming things and just being "off" in general. I work on vacation, so there is some reality to it out here, but it's sure a pleasure to put my feet up at the end of the day and pick up some sewing and just blob out.
I highly recommend a vacation to anyone and everyone. Take one now!
Argh again
So, the "other" halftime gig I was going to take has now decided to go 2 days instead of 5. Thank the stahs that my current bossly time is flexible. And a'workin' I do go.
MT Blog Something or Other
So, I'm cruising the web, finding MT things that might interest me and decide to look on MySpace for other medical transcriptionists. They're out there, but far and few between unless I was looking incorrectly.
How cool it would be to get a good consolidation spot out here rather than the not-so-cohesive network of MTs that exists today.
I need to think on this
Times do change, dammit
So, I get a half-time offer for a gig offline doing something I totally adore. I am torn. How can I do the halftime job and still keep my position where I am? I gave it a shot by doing substitute work with the offline job this summer and realized that I'm not 20 anymore and it's way more than I bargained for. I love both jobs, but had to tell the offline people that I couldn't keep up.
What's an MT to do?
I've transcribed, I've managed, I've owned an MTSO. What else is there to do? I was thinking about this last night, knowing that our field is ever-changing. Along with this, I had a conversation with a friend who is retraining her Dragon so that she can save her wrists.
